The Battle of Kartarpur (April 1635) – Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji and the Sikh Defense

This artwork depicts The Battle of Kartarpur (April 1635), where the forces of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji repelled a Mughal expedition sent against the Sikhs. At the centre of the composition stands the Sixth Guru, surrounded by key figures including Baba Bidhi Chand, Baba Gurditta, and Sri Tyag Mal Ji (later Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji).

The painting explores the moment when individual warriors align into a unified force under ਭਾਣਾ (Divine Will). Light and space on the left represent the incoming attack, while the darker right side shows the turning of the battle as the Mughal force begins to retreat.

Part of Prometheus – The War Series I, this piece interprets Sikh history through dramatic narrative composition and symbolic structure.
