A contemporary portrait inspired by the Anandpuri Hazuri Bir and the Bhai Rupa tradition, grounded in early Sikh visual history.
This painting is a contemporary reconstruction informed by two historically significant visual sources depicting Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
The first reference is a contemporary portrait of Guru Gobind Singh, preserved as a historical image and commonly associated with the Bhai Rupa tradition:

The second reference is the painted depiction of Guru Gobind Singh found within the Anandpuri Hazuri Bir codex of the Dasam Granth, dated to the late 1690s–early 1700s:

According to the Bhai Rupa tradition, the contemporary portrait is believed to be a commissioned image of Guru Gobind Rai during his youth. At this stage of life, the Guru had already emerged as a prolific writer and thinker, completing approximately 2,500 verses of the Krishnavatar by the age of twenty-three.
This artwork does not attempt speculative realism. Instead, it studies posture, composure, facial restraint, and symbolic clarity present in early Sikh visual culture, synthesising elements from both sources into a unified contemporary portrait. The intention is not replication, but interpretive preservation — maintaining historical integrity while allowing artistic continuity.
Produced as a museum-grade fine art print, this piece is intended for collectors, scholars, and devotees seeking historically grounded Sikh art rooted in documented visual tradition.
