Sikh Miniature Painting of Guru Nanak and Guru Gobind Singh Meeting, Pahari Style (Restored)
A rare Pahari Sikh miniature painting depicting the imagined meeting of Guru Nanak (1st Sikh Guru) and Guru Gobind Singh (10th Sikh Guru). Both Gurus are shown seated cross-legged on a terrace, facing one another, accompanied by attendants and symbolic figures. Executed in opaque watercolor, ink, and silver on paper, the composition conveys the unity of Sikhism’s spiritual origin with its temporal culmination.
Versions of this painting are preserved in the Victoria & Albert Museum (ca.1700–1720) and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (ca.1775), and it was later reproduced in W.G. Archer’s Paintings of the Sikhs (1966).
